The wait is over

Finally, after almost 6 years of having purchased this domain and a lot of procrastination, I have decided to actually start blogging.

I installed WordPress, created a quick modified theme and coded a few custom plugins for my needs.

What will I write about?

Just about anything that come to my mind during the day and that I feel strongly about. I’m sure some will disagree. That’s fine. I’m not claiming that they’ll be right. They will however be my own opinions as I state in my disclaimer. I’ve always been told not to keep things inside. One thing is for sure; I won’t hold back my opinions (too much). I’ll also use this site to post videos and pictures of our various family adventures.

People that know me, know that I love to talk. I have things to say. I love interacting with people and my over 13 years in customer service related jobs hasn’t stopped that. Since I currently work in a 3,000 sq. ft. office by myself, the days are long. I think know that my wife has had enough of my technical ramblings and I think that blogging will help both my family and myself.

Of course I’ll be writing about things that I know. Some things will be about new discoveries I find in my daily RSS reading, social networks and interaction with others.

That was vague, how about some examples?

  • different technology and how people use them (e.g. Facebook, Google, Twitter)
  • customer service
  • Quick tips and tricks (we all like those) on things like MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, searching online, computer maintenance, passwords to make you look like a pro at the office
  • Highlights of the wonderful free services and tools available to facilitate your daily work
  • pictures and videos of my 4 wonderful kids enjoying life.

I also plan on writing about things that people ask me about everyday. Over the years I have somehow become the “go to” person for the common phrase “How do you fill in the blank?“. Instead of just telling each individual, I’m now going to write about it too so that others can learn. It will also be used as a reference to go back to, so I don’t have to constantly repeat it.

I truly enjoy helping others and learning along the way; however I get extremely frustrated when people don’t improve themselves by learning from what I have shown them, instead just asking me to do it again. Grrrr. I don’t mind being called a “geek”, but you better learn from this geek because one day, the geek won’t be around and you’ll regret not having learned.

I won’t be calling anyone out by name in my posts (that would be wrong) but I know that what I’ll post will be very relevant to 98% of people and I strongly encourage people to comment on the posts, share, “like”, tweet and make suggestions using the comments or the contact form. Articles are going to be focused for people classifying themselves as “non techie”. It’s about sharing the knowledge so that everyone can personally grow.

Side note: If you don’t want to use you’re real name in the comment forms, that’s fine and even if I do know who you are, I won’t expose it. I’m just hoping to get conversations and interactions going.

Oh… and two more thing if you’re still here.

  1. I’m not a writer so I apologize in advance and,
  2. as you can tell I have a lot to say so this is my warning to you now, some of these posts/ articles will be long.

Take care, stay tuned and don’t forget to learn something new today.
